The Little Chef at Towcester East first opened in 1988, alongside a filling station and Travelodge hotel adjacent to the Abthorpe Roundabout, located at the start of the relatively new Towcester Bypass. The restaurant operated as one half of a dual-sided site, with the Towcester West Little Chef, located directly opposite on the southbound side of the A43, making up the other half. Both restaurants were housed within identical buildings, sporting the pitched roof, double front design.
In the 1990s, a Forte Coffee Stop was added to the site, although this later closed.
Following the takeover of the Little Chef brand by Euro Garages in 2017, the Little Chef at Towcester East ceased trading in September of the same year and was converted into a Starbucks shortly afterwards
