History[]
The Little Chef at Roche first opened in circa. 1986 and was located alongside a filling station on what used to be a single carriageway section of the A30 to the west of Bodmin. The restaurant was housed in a building with a pitched roof, double front design, the typical building style for Little Chefs opening at the time.
In the 1990s, a Forte Coffee Stop was added to the site, although this later closed.
In 2006, a Coffee Tempo! takeaway unit was added to the site.
Following Little Chef's then owners, the People's Restaurant Group, suffering from financial difficulties, the Little Chef at Roche, alongside 40 other branches, closed in January 2007. It was somewhat likely that the realignment of the A30 onto a new dual carriageway to the north, which diverted long-distance traffic away from the site, may have also contributed towards the closure of the restaurant.
Following the closure of the Little Chef, the restaurant stood empty for a few years until it was then converted into an independent cafe known as Sizzlers in 2011. Following the closure of Sizzlers, the building was then converted into offices and was named 'Victoria House'.
