History[]

The Little Chef at Morcott first opened in 1975, adjacent to a filling station on the A47 between Leicester and Peterborough. The restaurant replaced an existing independent cafe known as Welland View Cafe, owing to Forte's rapid expansion of the Little Chef chain throughout the 1970s.

In 1989, a Travelodge hotel was built adjacent to the Little Chef.

In January 2012, then owners R Capital announced the closure of 67 unprofitable Little Chefs nationwide, with Morcott being one of the affected branches. The Little Chef closed in September 2012. Within the next two years, the adjacent Travelodge also closed.

Following the closure of the Little Chef, the building then became an independent known as Country Lounge, before then becoming Rutland Point and then Taste of India. Today, the building plays host to The Hub at Rutland Point, which opened in June 2025.
