History[]

Opening as as a Little Chef between 1968 & 1972, Menai Bridge was housed in a rectangular shaped building with a flat roof - the Little Chef house building of the era, similar to that of the nearby sites of Penmaenmawr & Gaerwen. It opened alongside a Shell filling station, which was later closed in the 1990s to make way for a used car sales, which also closed and the former filling station was later demolished to make way for a caravan dealer.

When the A55 bypass was built around 2001, traffic was diverted away from the site, which was located on the old route. The plug was pulled at Menai Bridge, and the Little Chef ceased trading after over 30 years.

Nowadays, there are a few remains in the car park hinting at the site's former use, including a security notice and the remains of the totem. After closure, it has been operating as a number of independents - one being Sopna Tandoori Restaurant, which was established in 2007 and is still operating happily.
