The Jubilee Pancake was one of Little Chef's most famous menu items. A pancake filled with a warm cherry filling. It was usually served alongside a portion of vanilla ice cream, but from 2016 until the chain's collapse, customers were also given the option to have single cream instead of ice cream.
The pancake was introduced in 1977 to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee. In hindsight, the introduction of the pancake was at an important time in Little Chef's history; the rate of expansion was increasing and the chains popularity was soaring. As a result, the pancake quickly became a firm favourite of the travelling public, and remained on the menu until the chain's end in 2018.
When Little Chef was replaced by EG Diner after owners EG Group lost the rights to the brand name, the Jubilee Pancake was renamed the "Anniversary Pancake".
