The Irby Dale branch (sometimes known as the Laceby branch) was a Little Chef located on the Laceby Crossroads Roundabout.

Address and Onsite Information[]

Address: Irby Grove, Irby Dale, Laceby, Grimsby, South Humberside, DN37 7LG

Onsite Facilities: Shell, Greggs, Spar, Subway, Insomnia Coffee

History[]

The Little Chef at Irby Dale opened sometime around 1973, in the era's standard prefab Little Chef building. It opened as part of a service station - with a Shell petrol station opening to the north of the restaurant.

In 1994, the site was one of the few to be painted blue during the chain's brief stint in appealing to a new clientele of evening diners. It would maintain these colours even after it ceased being a Little Chef.

The site closed in 2001, and the adjoining petrol station was demolished soon after. As for the Little Chef itself, it sat abandoned and overgrown beside the roundabout for 13 years. It was eventually demolished in about 2014 to make way for a new service station.

Laceby Lodge, the new service station, opened in 2016 on the site of the former Little Chef. It features a Shell garage plus an amenity/sales bulding with a Greggs, Subway, Spar and Insomnia Coffee. Curiously, it utilises the same road layout as the original service station.
