The Dolgellau branch was a Little Chef restaurant located on the A470 near Dolgellau, Gwynedd.

Address and Onsite Information[]

ADDRESS: A470, Dolgellau, Gwynedd, LL40 2AB

ONSITE FACILITIES: Esso (forecourt), Starbucks

History[]

Opened in 1989/90, Dolgellau is different to most Little Chefs from the same era. Usually restaurants from around this period are housed in a building with the typical pitched roof and double front design. However, the building at Dolgellau was constructed using stone from buildings that had been demolished in nearby towns and villages. This gave Dolgellau a unique feel and allows it to blend in with the local landscape.

The Little Chef was positioned next door to an ESSO filling station. Both the filling station and the Little Chef were easily accessible due to being located on a single carriageway road.

Another unique feature of the Dolgellau branch was the totem sign. The sign was slightly shorter than most and much wider than usual (as of 2009). This was in order to accommodate both the English and Welsh versions of the text. However, this was later replaced with a Lavazza logo.

In March 2017, Dolgellau was one of a few Little Chefs to close down following the Euro Garages takeover. It re-opened as a Starbucks in May.
