History[]
The Beckington service area opened in 1989/90, after the A36 bypass was constructed alongside the village. The bypass was ultimately built to the east of the village in 1989 as one of three locations decided. After the bypass was built, the service area opened on the Bath end of the bypass, at the entrance of the village. The Little Chef itself opened in 1994, as indicated by the commemorative plaque which use to be displayed inside the restaurant.
The other facilities at the service area include a Travelodge and a BP filling station.
In 2015, the restaurant received a minor refurbishment, in which the tables and chairs were replaced and the restaurant was given a fresh coat of paint
The Little Chef closed its doors at 12 noon on the 12th June 2017, following the Euro Garages takeover earlier in the year. The restaurant later reopened as a Starbucks.
